First playable Prototype & much more
Hi, if you are reading this Blog Post, you are probably wondering what is going on here. I am Thane5, and AMP! is the result of me wanting to learn how to make games. Now, i don't want to fool you, i am in no way new to game development, but i come from an Artist background and barely know anything about programming. The only reason you see this game here, is that i picked up the visual scripting tool Bolt for Unity and smashed it together with some Unity Store Assets, as well as many custom models.
Now some more About the Game itself. AMP! is deeply inspired by the 1999 Game Re-Volt, which is mix between Mario Kart and a RC racing sim. I wanted to rethink this approach a bit, and chose a different perspective with even smaller cars. The world has a lot more interactive physics objects, and does not aim to recreate realistic RC car behavior. Right now it is still very barebones, but I am happy to say that it is a solid foundation for what may eventually become a pretty cool game.
Keep in mind, i consider AMP! to be in a prototype state, and i will keep working to change and improve it as much as i can. Still, here are some of the features you can test out in this Version:
- Singleplayer & Splitscreen Multiplayer Games
- Race against up to 3 AI cars
- Support for the XBox Gamepad in Menu and Game states
- Car Color customization
- A basic finish line (that shows how well you did in a race)
- A Jump ability
There is still so much i want to add, for example more and bigger maps, a selection of different Cars, and replacing all non-selfmade 3D assets. This is a lot of work, so dont expect changes to happen overnight. However, if you enjoyed your time with this early prototype, i would appreciate any feedback, bug reports or ideas you might have.
